Please don't play the Basement again when you return to Columbus! The sound in that place is terrible unless you are able to make it to the front. I think you should play the Newport again. Flickerstick used to play there all the time. One of the reasons you should move it back down there is because it is right in the middle of one of the largest concentrated populations of people ages 18 - 26 in the country. I'm talking about OSU. I know what it's like down there. The Basement is downtown, and college kids are literally too lazy or unable to get downtown most of the time. I think playing at the Newport in the middle of campus alone would attract a larger crowd, especially if you got it advertised around town. There is no point in advertising on any radio station in Columbus unless it's CD101.1, because unlike most radio stations, they actually are a credible source of music. And as for flyers... hell I'd even spend a night putting them up around campus if you'd send them to me. I just want to share Flickerstick with as many people, and also to not see them at the Basement anymore. Thanks for listening.

Oh, I disagree....
The Basement's sound may not be upto par...but the Newport isn't fantastic either. Plus you are talking about a 1800 person venue, (which the boys have not packed since 2001)compared to a 300 person venue. (which they do pack)
I really don't care for the Basement, (seriously, its my least favorite venue in C-bus) but the last two shows in Columbus, that have been there, have been the two best Filckerstick shows that I have EVER been to. (and that's even including the Chicago shows)

I think they should play something that is closer to the college kids though so you could get more foot traffic. I like the Newport because I'm old and when those boring opening acts are on I can actually "sit" along that back wall area! hehe It was pretty packed when they played Newport with Embassy in 2004. Embassy brought a large local crowd that seemed to stay pretty much for Flickerstick as well. I just agree that the Basement is TOO far away from foot traffic. But the show did ROCK! hehe

I guess I didn't realize the newport held that many people. But there is still something to be said about the fact that simply having the show at the Newport would attract pretty much all 300 people who packed the Basement, plus a lot of college kids who could walk on foot. Plus, the Newport is just a more high profile venue, it gives the show more credibility. People think "oh wow, they're playing at the newport... that's cool, I'll walk down there and see that." It really is a drive for anybody to see the band at the basement. Lots of college kids don't have cars, and it's also really hard to get a college kid's mindset out of the campus area. Most OSU students I know never even leave campus except when they go to wherever home is. Really, the majority of the people who would potentially go see them are younger people anyway, so why not go to where they are? I know there are many less popular bands than Flickerstick who play the Newport. They may not sell it out, but who said they had to sell it out?

Unfort, it's not just a flick of a lightswitch and we go back to Newport. Wish it was that easy. Booking a tour has too many variables (availability, offer/price, size, interest from buyer, and so forth). Not as easy as you think, but thank you for the various items of feedback. I can't attend every show, so it's always good to know what you guys think... and then I try to use the majority fan opinions along with the guys' collective opinion (they sometimes split on what they think too!). Two years ago, I had to beg Brandin to go back to San Antonio, and now it's become one of our better markets. Ya never know.

Well just keep coming to Ohio and I'll be happy no matter where it is! I'd love for them to come back to Cincinnati but if they do...don't put them downtown again...nobody goes down there unless they are looking to buy crack! hehe

I'll agree with Jamie. Although the Basement is a complete and total dump, I thought it was a fun venue! Everyone can get nice and close and I really felt the boys feeding off the crowd's energy. VERY different from Cleveland & Toledo.....they were huge venues that didnt fill up to capacity and I could feel the difference. Though, I beg you to keep the coming back to Cleveland again and again Brandin always says that he loves playing the Agora.

The Agora is a great venue. I saw the strokes there last year, I really like it. So much history to it also. Bands like U2 and the Police played there back in the day. How full was the Agora? It's a pretty big venue and I'm sure Flickerstick couldn't fill it, but I'll definitely be up there next time they play the agora cause I love it.

I'm bad at guessing numbers....but, lets just say, that the floor itself was only half full. I've seen it completely packed and I've seen it less full. I had hoped for a larger crowd because that show was taped for the yebotv thing. But.....the boys still rocked the Agora once again

I loved the Agora because I could do the whole 'balcony' thingy...eventhough it's not really a balcony, but more of a raised seating area off to the side. It was cool though, getting to look out over the crowd and see how the band and the crowd interact together.
